Green Hip specialises in providing premium work pants, shorts, shirts, and accessories for women. This year, the popular women’s workwear brand will be returning to the retail stands of the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show (MIFGS); an exciting exhibition which is set to amaze, delight and inspire it’s 100,000 visitors this March. While showcasing Green Hip’s premium workwear to the shows spectators, the company will also be launching a new Skinny Leg trades focused pant.
For centuries, women have had no other option but to wear uncomfortable, ill-fitting workwear, but now there’s an alternative for women working in the trades - Green Hip Workwear for Women now provides women more options.
‘We’ll be returning to MIFGS 2018 while also launching our new SKNY Flex Pant which we’re very excited about. Our customers have been asking for a skinny leg style and knee pads for years now and we’re thrilled to be able to make this style available with a heavy duty nylon fabric detailing for some extra durability for heavy wearing .’
Locally based in Geelong, Olivia Thwaites - the mastermind of Green Hip, is a qualified horticulturist, entrepreneur and business owner who used to attend the annual event as a visitor with hopes of one day showcasing her workwear to fellow spectators. After years of product development and learning the ropes of the rag trade, Olivia launched Green Hip in 2010. Since launching Green Hip, Olivia and her husband have had two children and the business has grown to supply 27 stockists, over a thousand online orders and supply multiple councils and government agencies around Australia.
Olivia has been able to achieve a great fit and style largely due to the unique cotton/stretch drill fabric she has chosen to work with as well as her personal experience with workwear that simply would not fit.
‘Working as a professional horticulturist, I was so fed up with wearing men’s workwear and the women’s workwear was worse! When my husband and I moved to Asia, I was in the land of tailors, and I took the opportunity to create a new women’s workwear range and the feedback from my trial customers was incredible.’ Olivia says.
With some new styles and colours launched mid last year, Olivia is looking forward to launching her new Pants SKNY Flex style at this years MIFGS.
‘Our customers absolutely loved our new Khaki, Hi-Vis, and Cargo style pants which we launched last year so it’ll be fun to introduce our new style especially for MIFGS customers this year. Not to mention our just recently launched Khaki Shirt styles, there’s so many new Green Hip products at this years MIFGS!’
‘We absolutely love interacting with our customers and hearing their feedback. I thrive on feedback, and there is nothing better than seeing a new customer try on my workwear and breathe a sigh of relief because it actually fits.’
Olivia, with her Sales Manager and team of volunteers will have changing rooms again this year, which were running hot for the majority of the time the shop was open last year. They will also be preparing for the show and re-locating all of their stock to Melbourne so the shop will be fully stocked.
‘It’s a big affair but it’s so very worth it! I used to visit the show every year when I was working as a horticulturalist and I have dreamt of selling my workwear to women at the show for years. It’s such a prestigious show and well regarded within the horticulture and landscape industry and I’m thrilled to be at MIFGS again this year’
Green Hip’s store location is A37 for the duration of the show from Wednesday 21stth – Sunday 25th March at the Royal Exhibition Building & Carlton Gardens.
