18,000 TREES WERE PLANTED – THANK YOU!

18,000 TREES WERE PLANTED – THANK YOU!

With the help of 40 volunteers, great team work and stunning weather we achieved great things during the weekend.

Planting these grasses, shrubs and trees is not only fun but it’s easy! Working with a partner, two people are able to plant at least 350 plants in 2 hours. Now that’s people power!

This major restoration project will provide habitat for koalas and improve the river health for fish and platypus populations in Charley Creek which flows through Gellibrand.

Creating a sense of community is so important and bringing locals and people from a far together to nuture and care for the environment was what the spirit of the treat planting festival was all about.

Due to a very wet Spring, we weren’t able to plant the allocated 35,000 trees. So we’ll be organising another planting weekend next Autumn 2018. If you couldn’t make it this time you’ll have another chance to join in on the fun!
